Mahindra XEV 9S Custom Drive Mode: Mahindra has introduced a new drive mode for the XEV 9S electric SUV, addressing feedback related to the adaptive suspension setup on higher variants. The update adds a ‘Custom’ mode that allows drivers to individually configure key vehicle parameters.
The change follows media evaluations of the Pack Three trim, where the adaptive suspension was found to feel soft over certain road surfaces. In particular, vertical body movement at higher speeds was noted, with the firmer Race mode offering better control.

What the Mahindra XEV 9S Custom Drive Mode Offers

The newly added Custom drive mode enables drivers to independently adjust the powertrain, steering, suspension and climate settings. This allows a mix-and-match approach rather than relying on preset combinations.
For example, drivers can now retain the softer steering and power delivery of Comfort mode while selecting the firmer suspension setting from Race mode. This flexibility is intended to provide a more tailored driving experience depending on road conditions and personal preference.
The Custom mode joins the existing Default, Everyday, Range and Race modes that were available on earlier test vehicles.
Available Only on Pack Three Variants
It is important to note that this update applies only to the XEV 9S Pack Three variants equipped with adaptive dampers. Lower trims, including Pack One and Pack Two, use passive suspension and do not receive this feature.

The addition is a factory-level inclusion on production models. Customer deliveries of the XEV 9S began on January 26, and the updated drive mode is already part of the delivered vehicles.
What This Means for Buyers
For prospective buyers considering the Pack Three variant, the Mahindra XEV 9S Custom Drive Mode offers greater control over ride and handling characteristics. Those who found the suspension slightly soft in certain conditions now have the option to fine-tune damping without sacrificing comfort-oriented steering or throttle response.
The move also indicates that Mahindra is responding to early feedback from test drives and reviews, particularly for its premium electric offerings.
The Mahindra XEV 9S is positioned in the Rs 21.10 lakh to Rs 31.23 lakh (on-road) bracket and offers a claimed range of up to 679 km depending on the variant.
With the introduction of the Mahindra XEV 9S Custom Drive Mode, the company aims to refine the driving experience further, especially for buyers opting for the top-spec adaptive suspension setup.
