Ducati Formula 73 Revealed, a limited-edition motorcycle created to commemorate the 750 Super Sport Desmo, one of the most significant models in the brand’s history. Production of the Formula 73 will be capped at 873 numbered units worldwide, each supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Tribute to a landmark Ducati model
The Formula 73 draws its name and identity from the 750 Super Sport Desmo, the first road-going Ducati to feature desmodromic valve timing. That motorcycle was closely linked to the 750 Imola Desmo race bike, which secured a historic victory at the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola endurance race, ridden by Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari.
By referencing this period, Ducati is highlighting a key chapter in its racing and engineering legacy, particularly the early adoption of desmodromic valve technology in road motorcycles.
Design inspired by racing heritage
Visually, the Formula 73 features a silver and aqua green paint scheme with a vertical gold stripe running across the fuel tank. This stripe is a deliberate reference to the unpainted section on the original Imola race bike, which allowed mechanics to monitor fuel levels during competition.
The styling leans heavily toward a café racer aesthetic, with clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors and a half fairing. Ducati has retained a minimalist and period-correct approach rather than adding modern visual elements.

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. Other hardware highlights include billet aluminium brake and clutch levers, billet foot pegs and a Rizoma fuel cap.

Despite its retro positioning, the Formula 73 is equipped with a modern electronics package. This includes Ducati Traction Control, cornering ABS, Ducati Quick Shift and two riding modes. These systems are intended to balance the bike’s classic styling with contemporary safety and usability standards.
Limited-edition ownership experience
Each Formula 73 will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity, along with a curated collection of archival images and design sketches from the Ducati Style Centre, presented in a dedicated box. The individual serial number is displayed on the steering plate.
Ducati has also developed matching lifestyle gear, including a helmet in collaboration with Arai and a jacket featuring the Formula 73 livery.

While there is no confirmation yet on India-specific availability or pricing, the Formula 73 is expected to be produced in very limited numbers globally. If introduced in India, it is likely to be brought in via the Completely Built Unit route and targeted at collectors.
