Tata Motors has revealed full details of the Tata Punch ev Facelift Base Smart Variant. The electric micro-SUV is priced at Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom) with the battery included, while buyers opting for the Battery as a Service (BaaS) programme can purchase it at Rs 6.49 lakh, with a battery subscription cost of Rs 2.6 per kilometre.

The Punch.ev facelift is available in five variants – Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered Plus S – and with two battery pack options. However, the base Smart trim is offered exclusively with the smaller 30 kWh battery.

Battery and Performance

The 30 kWh battery pack delivers a claimed range of 365 km on a full charge. Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing 87 bhp and 154 Nm of torque. Tata claims a 0–100 kmph acceleration time of 13.5 seconds for this configuration.

Drive modes include City and Sport, along with multi-level regenerative braking to enhance efficiency in urban conditions.

Higher variants of the Punch.ev get the larger 40 kWh battery pack, with prices going up to Rs 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec version.

Despite being the entry-level variant, the Smart trim is available in four exterior colours: Supernova Copper, Pure Grey, Pristine White, and Bengal Rouge.

In terms of equipment, it gets halogen projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. However, it misses out on automatic headlamps, LED projector units, and fog lamps offered in higher trims.

On the side, the SUV features ORVMs with integrated turn indicators and 15-inch steel wheels with covers. Roof rails and 16-inch alloy wheels are reserved for higher variants.

At the rear, the Smart variant gets a prominent skid plate but does not offer connected LED tail-lamps, a rear wiper, washer, or defogger.

Inside, the Tata Punch ev Facelift Base Smart Variant features a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 4-inch TFT display.

Unlike higher trims, it does not get the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Upholstery is fabric, whereas upper variants offer leatherette seats.

Key features on the base model include automatic climate control with touch-based HVAC controls, front power windows, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, electric tailgate release, and adjustable rear headrests.

It does not include premium features such as a sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated seats, or an 8-speaker sound system.

Safety Equipment

Tata has equipped the Tata Punch ev Facelift Base Smart Variant with six airbags as standard, along with ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system, and seatbelt reminders.

More advanced features like a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill descent control, and rain-sensing wipers are available only on higher trims.
